چکیده

We present numerically exact predictions of the periodic and single impurity Anderson models to address photoemission experiments on heavy fermion systems. Unlike the single impurity model the lattice model is able to account for the enhanced intensity, dispersion, and apparent weak temperature dependence of the Kondo resonant peak seen in recent controversial photoemission experiments. We present a consistent interpretation of these results as a crossover from the impurity regime to an effective Hubbard model regime described by Nozières. [S0031-9007(98)06268-1]

Low-Energy Scales and Temperature-Dependent Photoemission of Heavy Fermions

We solve the S = 1/2 Kondo lattice model within the dynamical mean field theory. Detailed predictions are made for the dependence of the lattice Kondo resonance and the conduction electron spectral density on temperature and band filling, nc. Two low-energy scales are identified in the spectra: a renormalized hybridization pseudogap scale T , which correlates with the single-ion Kondo scale, an...

Dynamics and Transport Properties of Heavy Fermions: Theory

The paramagnetic phase of heavy fermion systems is investigated, using a non-perturbative local moment approach to the asymmetric periodic Anderson model within the framework of dynamical mean field theory. The natural focus is on the strong coupling Kondo-lattice regime wherein single-particle spectra, scattering rates, d.c. transport and optics are found to exhibit (ω/ω L , T /ω L) scaling in...

Improved numerical simulation of the low temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis in a trickle bed reactor

Abstract Gas to liquid (GTL) process involves heterogeneous catalytic chemical reactions that convert synthesis gas to hydrocarbons and water vapor. A three phase reactor, called Low temperature Fischer-Tropsch (LTFT) is commonly applied for GTL process. In this reactor the gaseous phase includes the synthesis gas, light hydrocarbons and water vapor, the liquid phase is a mixture of the h...

Kondo insulators in the periodic Anderson model: a local moment approach

The symmetric periodic Anderson model is well known to capture the essential physics of Kondo insulator materials. Within the framework of dynamical mean-field theory, we develop a local moment approach to its single-particle dynamics in the paramagnetic phase. The approach is intrinsically nonperturbative, encompasses all energy scales and interaction strengths, and satisfies the low-energy di...

Temperature dependence of hybridization gaps in metallic heavy-fermion systems.

There is evidence that a number of heavy-fermion/mixed-valence materials show hybridization gaps either at the Fermi energy or close to it. In the former case, a heavy-fermion semiconducting state ensues, and in the latter case, the system remains metallic at low temperatures. In either case, there are significant indications that the electronic structure is extremely temperature dependent. In ...
